Procrastination and Inspo…
Hi y’all!
I was asked to be a guest on a podcast and we recorded last night. (Details to follow)
In that conversation we talked about the Instagram version of digital creators vs the TikTok version. I’ll be honest that my TT page is far more real and raw and honest and goofy than I am on IG. Instagram has a tendency to be a little more perfected. A little more polished. Glossier.
I feel like that goes for everybody who creates within that space. It’s a precedence.
If you follow me in both places you’ve probably realized this. I woke up this morning and asked myself…why do I wait for the right photo to post on IG? My message here is the same as it is on TikTok. Why am I more comfortable there?
So I decided to take a photo of what I looked like this AM…no make-up, tired as a mother, drinking my coffee, waiting on my kids to get dropped off, wondering if I can pull off the perfect blog, getting ready to work on all things Lipstick Tomboy and Backpack Society figuring out where my workout fits into that schedule. All with a hint of anxiety that I tend to start everyday with.
So here I am. I’m in my workout clothes, because that sets my intention to get a lift or a ride in today. I have my Yo Colorado beanie on, because it’s cold in Denver and I refuse to pay too much in a heating bill. I’m drinking my half-caff or decaf coffee (thank you ADHD) as part of my morning routine. I am sitting at my kitchen table where I work now, so I can see my mountains out the window. No make-up on, as that rarely happens until I get my workout in and sometimes not at all. This is just me trying to ADHD my way through the day and get something, ANYTHING accomplished.
As I sit here I didn’t just sit down to write an IG post, I now have a blog post and I will finally post one today after weeks of procrastination. Sometimes all you need is a spark. Thank you Nicolette and Diana and the Definitely Not For Everyone podcast for that little glimpse and inspiration.
Next we will talk about my experience with ADHD. That should be a hoot!!
